FloWrestling and MatScouts have updated their post-Super 32 national rankings and the Minisink Valley Warriors are very well represented. Freshman PJ Duke took home the title in Greensboro and knocked off the then #1 ranked kid in the land thus earning him the #1 national ranking at 126 according to both polls! Zack Ryder had an awesome tournament as well wrestling at 152. Ryder finished 5th at S32 with his only two losses coming via 3-1 decision to the kids who finished 2nd and 4th. Ryder is now ranked #9 in the nation at 152 by both Flo and MatScouts. Fellow Warrior Mike Altomer plays football so opted not compete at the Super 32, however he is still ranked #22 at 182 according to MatScouts (FloWrestling only ranks top-20). Last but certainly not least we cannot forget about Sofia Macaluso. Sofia also didn’t wrestle at Super 32 but is still ranked #3 in the nation at 127 pounds according to USA Wrestling. Congratulations to all 4 Warriors!

Great showing by the MV Warriors! It makes an OLE Coach proud!
This is really amazing! It would be interesting to see a post regarding the history of all nationally ranked wresters from Section 9 (ie – school, years ranked, top rank, titles, state accomplishments, etc.). That said, has any school in the state at any time been able to match Minisink’s total of 4 nationally ranked wrestlers at one time (or even 3, considering girls wrestling is still in it’s infancy in NY).
Congratulations MV Grapplers in the Super 32 tournament and national rankings.
You make an OL COACH proud!!
I hope some of these young men visit Cornell. It would be great to have them stay in NYS at one of the top programs nationally. Coach Grey is held in high esteem by his flock, such world ranked as Yainni D and Vito A. Not to mention the advantages of an Ivy education.
