One of the fastest growing sports in the United States is Girls Wrestling! Several states even have a separate all-girls division for their high school state championships. Hopefully, NYS will follow suit in the very near future. Venom Girls Wrestling Club is an all-girls wrestling club team coached by Heath Macaluso at his Budo JJ facility in Otisville, NY. Heath is a Minisink Valley graduate who placed 6th in NYS as a senior before wrestling at Division 1 Wagner for current MV coach Kevin Gallagher. The Venom Girls were recently treated to an outstanding freestyle clinic by Sierra “Sissy” Blasone from Sparta NJ. Sissy is a 3X NJ Girls Freestyle State Champion and she is a 3X All-American at Fargo. Sissy was also the starting 106 pound wrestler for Sparta’s varsity team this year where she went 12-10. Sissy will be attending Missouri Valley in the fall on a full wrestling scholarship.
