The 2019-2020 wrestling season is underway so it’s time to start planning your calendar for one of the premier high school wrestling tournaments in the nation – The Eastern States Classic! The event gets tougher each year and this season will be no exception. Now in its 18th year, the 2020 Eastern States Classic will feature 575 wrestlers from over 170 schools representing 7 states! This year’s tournament will also include a girls division making the ESC one of the few, if not the only, in-season premier high school tournament to have both a boys and girls division! The event will once again be covered by FloWrestling! Flo will once again provide live coverage for every match on every mat for both days!

  1. Mike — I hope you will be doing your usual pre-wrestling analysis of the Eastern States Classic!!!! It certainly makes watching the meet more interesting with your trusted insight. Cheers!

  2. Good evening and Happy New Year Mr. Carey.

I am contacting you on behalf of my son, Lee Mauras who would like to participate in the Eastern States. He has recently transferred to the Hempstead School District and Hempstead unfortunately, never gets an invite.

Lee is presently the defending Nassau County Champion at 145 and he is also a 2x All State.

The Hempstead School District will also be reaching out to you via Coach Raymond Mills and the Athletic Director, Dr. Hill.

Can you please advise if he will be allowed to participate.

    1. He actually wrestled this weekend. He was just recently cleared but definitely will not be wrestling at the ESC this year. He will be back into wrestling shape soon enough and I am sure we will see him at states!

      1. Thank you. Yes. It is best to be safe after a bad injury.
It’s not like he hasn’t won this event before and has also beaten the top guys.
Best to stay healthy for states and college. No need to take chances.
