Weekend Tournaments – December 4th and 5th

Lance Golubinski Duals @ Goshen
Section 8 Longwood won the tournament, finishing 5-0 and taking away the championship. Warwick also had a very impressive day and went 4-1 and finished in second place. Both Goshen and Saugerties finished 3-2 on the day. Port Jervis wrestler Matthew Oosterom (215) was named the 2021 Lance Golubinski Memorial Duals Most Outstanding Wrestler. He finished the day 5-0 with 5 first period pins! Matthew’s brother, James, was also a past winner of the award back in 2018.

Wallkill Panthers win the Bethlehem Round Robin tournament with 264 points, Coxsackie-Athens finished 2nd with 255 points, Shaker finished 3rd with 208 points.

Ballston Spa Duals @ Ballston Spa HS (Section 2)
Minisink Valley dominated the field at the Ballston Spa Duals outscoring their opponents 352-21. The Warriors had 10 wrestlers go undefeated: Joseph Uhrig (5-0 @ 102), Anthony Tresch (3-0 @ 126), Sofia Macaluso (2-0 @ 126), PJ Duke (5-0 @ 138), Luke Greiner (5-0 @ 145), Zack Ryder (5-0 @ 160), George Razc (5-0 @ 172), Mikey Altomer (5-0 @ 189), Andrew Filip (5-0 @ 215), Ethan Gallo (5-0 @ 285). Red Hook was also at the tournament. They are a young squad and they struggled going 0-5 in duals however Rian Kirker was a very bright spot finishing 5-0 at 126!

Battle at the Beach @ Long Beach HS (Section 8)
Monroe Woodbury crowned two champions and had seven wrestlers place in the top six at the 2021 Battle at the Beach. Jordan Brown took home the title at 138 and Mike Zrelak pinned all four of his opponents in the first period to take home the crown at 172. The other Crusaders who made the podium were Amado Urena (4th @ 102), Liam Hayes (4th @ 110), Maxim Javorky (5th @ 118), Brandon Carcaterra (4th @ 152), and Eryk Shammgod (3rd @ 189).
