Great showing by four of Section 9’s best at this weekend’s Pop & Flo Mini Men Nationals up at Union College! Onteora sophomores Nicholas and Patrick Ross took home titles at 152 and 160 pounds respectively. Nicholas won his title at 152 by rolling through the competition with three pins and a tech fall while Patrick grinded out three tough decisions at 160 to earn gold! Port Jervis freshman Eric Tigue went 3-1 and finished 2nd at 145. Tigue’s only loss was a 6-5 decision to champion John Mairano. Nathan Ross, a junior at Onteora, technically finished 5th at 170 however he did notch a 9-2 win over the eventual champion AJ Fricchione in pool matches. Fricchione is a Minisink Valley resident but will be attending high school at a private school in NJ. Ross also suffered a loss in pool matches and criteria dictated that he wrestle for 5th/6th in the medal round. Great job guys!
