Minisink Valley wrestling coach Kevin Gallagher is one victory away from a milestone.  A former standout athlete at Minisink, Gallagher currently sits on a career coaching record of 299 wins and 85 losses.  The Warrior faithful hope to see Gallagher collect the magical 300th win tonight when Minisink Valley takes on Washingtonville in a home dual in Slate Hill at 7:00 PM.

Colonie Tournament
Minisink went 9-1 and finished in second place at the two-day, ten-match Colonie Dual Meet Tournament.  The Warriors only defeat came at the hands of perennial Section 11 power Rocky Point.  Minisink’s Michael Raccioppi finished the weekend a perfect 10-0 with 8 pins and 2 forfeits!

Huntington Tournament
The Port Jervis wrestling team took 5th Place at the Huntington Tournament in Long Island, NY. The Raiders had four champions Dylan Booth 113lbs, Travis Edwards 160lbs, Dan Decarlo 170lbs, and Randy Wilson 182lbs. Also earning 4th place medals were Hunter Curreri at 138lbs and Henry Schall 195lbs. Randy Wilson won the award for most pins in least amount of time with 4pins in 8 minutes 14 seconds.

Mahopac Duals

2011 Warwick Valley graduate Mitchell Wightman is the starting 165 pound wrestler for Division 1 Boston University.  Wightman notched two dominating victories this weekend, by fall in :26 and by technical fall 16-0, as BU defeated opponents Bridewater State and Franklin & Marshall this weekend.  Click here for the full story and complete boxscores from the Boston University athletic website.

Final pairings are set for the 2012 Walsh Ironman in OH.  The Ironman is generally considered the toughest high school wrestling tournament in the country. Blair Academy has pulled away with the team race.  Some interesting notes about a few of the finalists….
