The NY Titans Wrestling Club in Albany, NY is hosting an individual youth tournament this Saturday, May 26 at the Albany Academy Fieldhouse. All proceeds from the tournament will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Team Vinny V tee shirts will be available for purchase with proceeds going to the Vespa family. Central Sign-Up Dates For Youth States
The central sign-up dates for the 2012 USA Wrestling Kids States are:
Saturday Feb. 18th in Middletown at Studio AYO on Rt. 211 from 10:30 am- 12:30 pm. Tuesday Feb. 21st at the MW High School from 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm.
All fees and paperwork will be collected on those dates and forwarded as a section to the tournament director in Long Island.

Hey….speaking of future S9 champions, I hope everyone is registered for the Section 9 Youth Championships scheduled for this coming Sunday 2/12 at Monroe Woodbury High School. The tournament is also open to modified wrestlers as long as their birth year is 1998 or 1999. Click below for tournament and registration information.

Regional Youth Tournaments
I have been getting several requests for information about Youth Wrestling Tournaments. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be too many local events schedued. What I’ve decided to do, however, is provide some information about tournaments that are within a few hours of Section 9. Hopefully, in time, we will see an increase in local youth tournaments. For the time being, you may want to consider entering your future Section 9 wrestlers in tournaments in Section 1 (Dutchess, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester Counties), NJ, PA, Long Island, Sections 3 and 4 (Central NY), and Section 2 (Albany area). I hope this is of some help to those of you who are interested, and please do not hesitate in sending me any additional information regarding youth wrestling.

Minisink Valley Youth Wins Warwick Holiday Tournament!
Congratulations to the Minisink Valley Youth Wrestling Program for winning the team title at the 2011 Warwick Holiday Tournament. With over 325 wrestlers representing 
dozens of youth programs spanning several states including NY, NJ, and PA, the Warwick Holiday is one of the largest youth tournaments in the state.
The MV youth grapplers edged out Sparta, NJ by one point! Collecting individual titles for Minisink were Zack Ryder, Ethan Gallo, Ryan Cherry, Nick Albornoz, Tyler Castro, Connor Greiner, Demetrius Moore, Austin Rambrose, Nick Perdomo, and Ethan Hamilton. Second place honors for Minisink were earned by AJ Friccione, Jace Hirsch, Andrew Doty, Austin Oldfield, and Nick Rodriguez. Third and fourth place finishers for MV included Sofia Macaluso, Tom Perdomo, Jarred Greiner, and CJ Post.
Special “thanks” go out to the Warwick Youth Program for hosting such an outstanding tournament. Last, but certainly not least, congratulations should go out to every single participant in Sunday’s tournament. Whether you won every match or lost every match…..the entire Section 9 Wrestling community is proud of all of you! We admire your effort and your courage….YOU are the future of our sport!!!
