Wildcats Reign Supreme Again!

The 2012 Warwick wrestling team has proved that last year was no fluke.  The Wildcats dominated the competition and was once again crowned the Section 9 Wrestling D1 Tournament Champions.  Warwick had eight finalists, crowned five champions, and outscored second place Monroe Woodbury by over 50 points.  They also captured all of the individual awards as Kyle Wierzbicki was chosen as MOW and also received a share of the Mike DeCapua award for Most Exciting Match of the Night for his 15-6 victory over Port Jervis’ Bret Sauschuck.  Seventh-grader Ryan Ferro received the Cody Terry Award for the best first year varsity wrestler.  Ferro placed second to Cornwalls TJ Kreider at 113 pounds.

  1. A great year of wrestling. Let’s see how our champs do at the states. No real surprises as most of our top ranked kids won the title with a one or two second ranked. Go section 9 and good luck to all. Any thoughts if we might get any wild cards this year?

  2. My guess on wild cards:
    99 vinny vespa
    103 mike raccioppi
    195 pavel gorelov
    285 seth stauble
    285 terrence cheeks
