Northeast Duals in Albany on Saturday

Hey what better way to spend the Saturday after Thanksgiving than watching some of the toughest NCAA wrestling east of the Mississippi!!!  Now in its 10 year, the Northeast Duals has become one of the premier wrestling tournaments of the season.  The event, made possible by Journeymen Wrestling and Asics, will feature some of the top teams in the country including Cornell, Illinois, and Central Michigan.  The tournament is being held at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY.  Wrestling will begin at 9:30.

Of local interest, the Army Black Knights will be competing at the event and are scheduled to take on Purdue, Binghamton, and Rutgers.  Hofstra will also be there which mean that Monroe Woodbury graduate Jamie Franco will get the chance to strut his stuff at 133 against some of the best in the country.  Franco, currently ranked #18 the country by Intermat, could potentially take-on Scott Sentes (#2, Central Michigan), Cashe Quiroga (#8, Purdue), and Cody Brewer (#13, Oklahoma).  In Hofstra’s match against Bloomsburg, Franco could also tangle with fellow NY native Nick Wilcox (Greene, S4).
